We hope when you're finished visiting our website, you consider one of our puppies. If the timing is right along with a good fit, we hope you have as memorable experience owning a Labrador Retriever as we have!
We still can't believe how one little yellow dog changed to course of our lives. It began with our son's suggestion. Not long after returning to live "The Good Life" here in Nebraska, My Son Garrett said "Dad, why don't you get yourself a dog to hunt with?" and so, our story begins....
Honestly, I didn't really do any research and Shari, and I bought a puppy from a backyard breeding. You will hear me talk about LUCK a lot. With Sugar it was 100% luck. When we went to pick her up at 49days the people we bought her from were overjoyed that we still wanted the "naughty one"!
Training began as soon as we got home. I think she trained me more than I trained her. Which would ultimately lead to another life changing event. I worked with her every day in preparation of the coming hunting season. Sugar absolutely loved training! Her drive, stamina, nose, marking and memory were incredible. At 6mo's of age I had the best hunting dog I could have ever imagined. But she was far from finished. Eventually Sugar would become our first Hunting Retriever Champion. The last 10 minutes of her first Pheasant season I watched in disbelief as she chased a rooster 200 yards and catch him out of the air when he set his wings to land.
That rooster pheasant is now proudly displayed in our living room.
Unfortunately, like all good things, the season came to an end. While watching a TV show one afternoon (BDC World Championship) They kept talking about a dog named Raider. GMPR-Rik's Risky Raider MH MHR HOF and 2001 U.S. Open Pheasant Champion. as it turned out it was Sugar's Grandsire. SEE? I told you I was lucky!
Fast forward 3 years and we had our first litter of puppies. We had zero experience but found great joy in raising puppies. We even kept the very first one born. At the same time, we decided to send Sugar off to be professionally trained. More about that is available on the training page. Ultimately it would lead to our move to the country where we have plenty of room to raise the puppies that bring joy to so many families.
Shari nor I set out to become breeders, it found us! We have grown it into a full-time business for me that I take very seriously. We have puppies from Alaska to Florida and 39 States between along with British Columbia and Alberta Canada.
We cater to Hunting companion homes primarily but have puppies placed in Agility, Law Enforcement, Detection, Service, Dock Diving and Competiton homes. Many are competing on the National Level such as National Derby Field Trial.
